DAY 1 – Arrival in Cairo

Upon arrival at Cairo International Airport, your adventure begins with a warm welcome from your Secret of Egypt tour leader, who will accompany you to your well-appointed hotel in comfort.

After check-in, the tour leader will review your tour itinerary, confirming departure times from the hotel. Then you will be free to enjoy your time as you like. Your tour leader will be happy to make any recommendations for things to do near your hotel in case you would like to explore on your own.

DAY 2 – Giza Pyramids Tour and Cairo Sightseeing

First stop will be the world-renowned Pyramids of Giza, Cheops, Chephren and Mycerinus, as well as the Sphinx and the lesser known yet intriguing Valley Temple, which is situated so that it faces the great monument. The largest of the Giza pyramids, The Great Pyramid, is the only one of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World that is still standing.

Next your tour guide will take you to the incredible Egyptian Museum near downtown’s newly renovated Tahrir Square. You will be guided through the many rooms full of tens of thousands of ancient artifacts on display.

The Treasures Room is surely one of the most spectacular highlights of the museum. King Tutankham’s sealed tomb was first entered in the early 20th century and found fully intact, including all the incredible artifacts buried with him to take to the afterlife.

After a full morning at the Giza Pyramid Complex and the Egyptian Museum, you will enjoy a lovely lunch at a nearby restaurant. Take the opportunity to rest and refuel for the afternoon’s adventures.

Next stop will be the area known as Coptic Cairo where you will visit the Hanging Church of Cairo and the interesting Ben Ezra Synagogue.

The last stop of the day will be in Islamic Cairo and the colorful and historic Khan El Khalili Bazaar. This area of Cairo is widely agreed to be a must-see when visiting Egypt. The bazaar, in existence since the 14th century, consists of narrow streets and enchanting cafes and shops full of keepsakes. Shop if you like, but if not, you won’t be disappointed exploring this charming part of Cairo.

Once finished at Khan El Khalili, you will head back to the hotel for an evening of relaxation or of more free-time exploration of the city that Never Sleeps after sunset if you like.

Meals Included: Breakfast and Lunch

DAY 3 – Flight to Luxor, Cruise Embarkation, and West Bank Tour

You’ll awake and enjoy a lovely breakfast at the hotel before your tour Leader will greet you and escort you to the Cairo Airport for your short flight to Luxor.

A friendly and knowledgeable tour leader from Secret of Egypt will greet you at the Luxor Airport and will escort you to the luxury Nile River cruiser that you will call home for the four days. Enjoy a delectable lunch onboard and then relax and refresh yourself before the afternoon of sightseeing begins.

The first stop on your afternoon adventure will be on Luxor’s East Bank at the Karnak Temple complex, one of the biggest and most well-known sites in the Nile River Valley. After the Karnak Temple you will visit the Luxor Temple before returning to the river cruiser. You will be served a delicious dinner onboard, and have the evening to relax and get a good night’s rest in your cabin.

DAY 4 – Luxor West Bank and Cruise to Edfu

Enjoy an early breakfast and get ready to explore the wonders of the West Bank of Luxor, or what was known in the ancient world as the city of Thebes. The incredible Valley of the Kings awaits you as you will spend the day exploring this necropolis of over 70 tombs of the ancient royal families including King Ramses VI and the famous King Tutankhamen. You will also spend time at the spectacular Temple of Queen Hatshepsut.

You will be amazed by the gigantic and iconic Colossi of Memnon. After this full morning of discovery, you will be accompanied back to the ship for a cool and refreshing lunch onboard.

The remainder of the day will be spent cruising on the Nile for the city of Edfu, where you will dine onboard the ship and get a restful sleep.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

DAY 5 – Temple of Horus and Temple of Kom Ombo

First thing in the morning you will be served breakfast on the cruise ship, and then you will join the group for a tour of the Edfu Temple, the most well-preserved and one of the most fascinating temples from the ancient world. It is dedicated to the falcon god, Horus and is quite spectacular.

After a delightful morning at this very special site, you will board the boat and set sail for the next stop, Kom Ombo. Discover this unique “twin temple” built for both the falcon god, Horus, and the crocodile god, Sobek.

Upon returning to the cruise, you will be served lunch as the ship gets underway for the charm and magic of Aswan. Take this time to completely relax as you take in the beauty of the Nile River Valley. You will be served a delicious dinner onboard, and enjoy a great night’s sleep at Aswan.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

DAY 6 – Aswan Sightseeing Tour and Leisure Time

A luxurious breakfast on the river cruise followed by a tour of the sights of Aswan. First to the Aswan High Dam, then to the enchanting Philae Temple, which was relocated to its present home to save it from the rising waters of Lake Nasser. Lastly you will visit the Unfinished Obelisk, said to be the largest obelisk from the ancient world.
